    陈发虎,男,1962年12月生,博士,教授,中国科学院院士,第三世界科学院(TWAS)院士。现任中国科学院青藏高原研究所研究员、学术副所长,兰州大学特聘教授。
    1984-1990年兰州大学自然地理本科、硕士和博士,1995-1997年在英国利物浦大学地理系从事博士后研究。1995年起任兰州大学自然地理学教授和博士生导师,2005-2016年任西部环境教育部重点实验室主任,2007年起任兰州大学副校长,2008年起任兰州大学学术委员会副主任,2015年起任兰州大学自然科学学术委员会主任,2010-2014年任西部环境与气候变化研究院学术委员会主任,2015年入选中国科学院院士,2016年入选发展中国家科学院院士。
    2002年获国家基金委杰出青年基金,2002入选中国科学院“百人计划”,2005-2013年任国家基金委创新群体负责人,2005-2008年任教育部“长江学者”特聘教授,2005-2016年任国家外专局/教育部自然地理学学科引智创新计划负责人。曾获首届甘肃省十大杰出青年科技奖,2005年获全国先进工作者称号。曾任国际第四纪联合会(INQUA)东亚全新世分委员会主席、亚洲中部古气候工作组主席等;曾兼任英国伦敦大学学院地理系、利物浦大学地理系等大学访问教授;现任国际地理联合会环境演变委员会(Environment Evolution Commission)副主席,国际古湖沼学会咨询委员会委员;任中国地理学会、中国资源学会、中国第四纪研究会副理事长,任中国地理学会环境变化与环境考古专业委员会主任,任教育部地理学教学指导委员会主任等。兼任SCI刊物《Frontier of Earth Science》、《中国科学.地球科学》(中英文)、《Journal of Arid Land》及中文刊物《冰川冻土》、《地理科学》、《湖泊科学》副主编,任《Journal of Quaternary Science》、《Palaeogeography, Palaeoclimatology, Palaeoecology》及中文刊物《第四纪研究》、《地球科学进展》、《湖泊科学》、《海洋地质与第四纪地质》、《中国沙漠》、《干旱区地理》、《自然资源学报》等多家杂志编委。
    主要从事干旱-半干旱区的环境变化及其史前人-环境相互作用研究,先后开展了西部黄土地层与黄土古气候记录、晚第四纪气候快速变化、全新世干旱事件、干旱区湖泊演化、西风区湿度/降水变化、青藏高原环境考古、气候变化对湖泊生态的影响等研究工作。成果包括:1)系统开展了黄土高原西部地区的黄土地层、黄土沉积年代和气候记录研究,建立了适用于区域对比的黄土-古土壤序列,推动了我国黄土气候学的发展;2) 开展了末次冰期旋回冰期/间冰期状态的气候快速变化研究,较早提出我国末次冰期冬、夏季风均存在快速变化,但具有区域特色;发现我国季风边缘区全新世气候也存在千-百年尺度的气候快速变化,表现为多次重大干旱事件,并具有全球联系;发现温暖的末次间冰期东亚季风气候具有轨道尺度的变化特征,不存在国外报道的气候不稳定性变化;3)发现西风环流显著影响的亚洲中部内陆干旱区的湿度(降水)变化模式与季风气候存在显著差异,提出了在不同时间尺度上全新世气候变化的“西风模式”及其解释机制新观点;4)开展了我国中部沙漠区晚第四纪内陆湖泊和沙漠的演化历史,发现在河套平原存在晚第四纪的“吉兰泰-河套”古大湖。5)揭示了区域环境剧烈变化与史前人类活动的相互作用,提出史前人类向青藏高原扩散经历了三个主要阶段,农业扩散和发展促进了史前人类在晚全新世才长年定居青藏高原的新观点。发现自然暖期时段高山湖泊发生湖泊富营养化,提出现代人为暖期和自然暖期对高山湖泊生态系统的影响不同。
    目前围绕气候、环境变化和环境考古研究,侧重开展(1)东亚夏季风和亚洲中部干旱区气候环境变化格局及其机制研究;(2)东西方文化交流、史前人类定居青藏高原与环境变化相互作用,青藏高原全新世温度和降水变化格局;(3)中国北方和青藏高原湖泊、沙漠演化历史和机制;(4)新疆及中亚黄土年代学和气候记录。
    曾主持完成国家“973”项目的课题3项、国家自然科学面上和重点基金项目6项、国家基金委创新群体基金1项、教育部学科引智项目1项等。现主持国家自然科学基金重点国际合作项目1项、面上项目1项。出版专著4部,编辑英文专刊5本。在Science、Nature Climate Change、PNAS、ESR、Scientific Reports、Climate Dynamics、QSR、Palaeo-3、Holocene、《中国科学》等发表论文460篇(SCI论文250多篇)。论著总被引7670次,SCI刊物总引6400多次。H指数41,是国际地球科学前1%的高引用科学家。有5篇第一或通讯作者论文入选ESI top1%高被引论文(其中2篇入选0.1%热点论文)。研究成果获省部级科技奖和社会科学奖11项,含一等奖5项,2007年获国家自然科学二等奖1项(第一完成人)
