Education and Appointments

April 2004 – now                 Institute of Tibetan Plateau Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing

Feb. 2003 – Mar. 2004   Institute of South China Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Guangzhou Nov. 1988 - Sept. 1995 Lanzhou Institute of Glaciology & Geocryology, Chinese Academy of Sciences in Lanzhou, China  assistant researcher

Jul. 1983 - Aug. 1985          Hydrology & Water Resources Bureau of Xinjiang in Urumqi, Xinjiang

I had worked for scientific investigation in the China-Pamirs Plateau, the Tienshan, the Karakoram Mts. (K2, Sino-Germany joint expedition in 1986) and the West Kunlun Mts., in the Taklimakan Desert (the Tarim Basin) in the West China(Sino-Japan joint expedition during 1992-93) for international projects, and worked for national demands in the East Himalayas, Nyanqen Tangulha Mts (Investigation on glacier & snow hazards along the Tibet-Sichuang highway) and the Qinhai Lake, the Qaidam Basin in Tibet Plateau for survey of meltwater resources and investigation of flood disasters as well. More than 50 papers have been published in both English and Chinese.

In addition, I had been as one of editors for publishing a series of maps of the famous mounts and the large glaciers in the world, including the map of Mount Qomolangma (8848m, a.s.l., Everest) and Mount of Xixabangma 8014m,a.s.l. in the Himalayas), the map of Mount Qogori (8611m,a.s.l. K2 in the Karakoram), map of Mount Kongur -Muztag Ata (7719m and 7546m,a.s.l. in the East Pamirs) at scale of 1:100,000 in both Chinese and English.
